Orlando Brake Repair and Service
We Use ASE Certified Technicians
MAc's Auto Service is proud to be your Orlando area brake repair center. The brakes are one of the most crucial components on your car. Fortunately, it's not difficult to tell when your vehicle is in need of a professional brake inspection. There are several things that will let you know it's time to get your brakes serviced. If you notice any of these symptoms, it's best to bring your car in to our shop for a free brake inspection.
One of the first symptoms you’ll notice is a squeaking of the brakes when applied. Most disc brakes include a piece called a wear indicator. It is a small piece of metal attached to the brake pad and will begin to contact the brake rotor when the brake pad is worn to a certain level. This contact of the wear indicator with the rotor is what normally happens when brakes are squealing.

- Some of the other symptoms you might notice are:
- Spongy or soft brake pedal
- Extra hard brake pedal
- Strong vibration while applying the brakes
- Constant grinding of the brakes even while not applying
- A brake warning light that stays on
- Pulling or grabbing to one side
- Pulsation of the brake pedal
- Clicking noises during braking
Any of these signs is a good indication that it's time for a professional brake inspection. Often times, brake inspections can be performed while you wait. When you bring your vehicle in for a brake inspection, you'll want to tell our service advisor all of the symptoms you are experiencing. This extra bit of information will be helpful in determining an estimate for repairs and also to insure that all of your issues are addressed. One of our technicians will road test your vehicle to make sure the diagnosis is accurate.
There are two kinds of brakes: disc and drum. Disc brakes will have a rotor attached to the axle. Drum brakes are common on back wheels and will have shoes instead of pads.
Once the vehicle is in our repair facility, one of our technicians will remove the wheels to inspect the brake pads and or brake shoes, and the other brake components. Our brake service includes installing premium brake pads, and or shoes, resurfacing the brake rotors and or drums, and lubricating the brake hardware. Machining or resurfacing the brake rotors and drums provides a smooth stopping surface for the brake pads and shoes. If the brake pads are severely worn, oftentimes the brake rotors will be damaged and may have to be replaced. If the rotors are within minimum tolerances, they will be machined to give the rotor a new, smooth surface. In most cases, we try to use ceramic brake pads, which provide superior brake life with reduced noise and dust. Your service writer will recommend the best brake pads for your vehicle.
Normally brake pads should last thousands of miles without any problems. This does depend on your vehicle and your driving habits. If you think there is any problem at all with your brakes, the best advice is to get it looked at by a professional as soon as possible.
